You Cold Busted...SIlly Rabbit Tricks Are For Kids

I heard this song on the radio the other day and knew right away that it had to be this week's Friday Night Video. This song has some of the best lyrics!!! Check them out below, in case you were living under a rock in 1986 (or listening to Metallica - Mira).

I saw you (and him)walking in the rainYou were holding hands and I'll never be the same.
Tossing and turning another sleepless night
The rain crashes against my window pane
Jumped into my car didn't drive too far
That moment I knew I would never be the same.
Chorus
Now here you are begging to me
To give our love another try
Girl I love you and I always will
But darling right now I've got to say goodbye 'Cause
Chorus (I saw you) Hey hey baby how ya doin' come on in here
(Walking in the rain)
Got some hot chocolate on the stove waiting for you
Listen first things first let me hang up the coat (You were holding hands and I'll)
Yeah how was your day today
Did you miss me (Never be the same)
You did? Yeah? I missed you too
I missed you so much I followed you today(I saw you)
That's right now close your mouth'
Cause you cold busted (Walking in the rain)
Now just sit down here, sit down here
I'm so upset with you I don't know what to do
(You were holding hands and I'll)
You know my first impulse was to run up on you
And do a Rambo (Never be the same)
I was about to jam you and flat blast both of you
But I didn't wanna mess upthis thirt-seven hundred dollar lynx coat
So instead I chilled -- That's right chilled
I called up the bank and took out every dime.
Than I cancelled all your credit cards...
I stuck you up for every piece of jewelery I ever bought you!
Don't go lookin' in that closet'cause everything you came here withis packed up and waiting for you in the guest room.
What were you thinking? You don't mess with the Juice!
I gave you silk suits, gucci handbags and blue diamonds.
I gave you things you couldn't even pronounce!
But now I can't give you nothing but advice.
Cause you're still young, yeah, you're young. And you're gonna find somebody like me one of these days
Until then, you know what you gotta do?
You gotta get on outta herewith that alley-cat-coat-wearing, punch-bucket-shoe-wearing crumbcake I saw you with.
Cause you dismissed!
That's right, Silly rabbit, tricks are made for kids, don't you know that.
You without me is like corn flakes without the milk!
This is my world. You're just a squirrel trying to get a nut!
Now get on outta here.
Scat! Don't touch that coat...

New Hair...Need your opinion

Well, as I mentioned earlier this week, I made a trip to the salon and got my hair chopped. I really like my new hair cut alot, but still trying to figure out how to work the front part of my hair. I don't know if I should comb it forward or backward. My stylist had it kinda going forward the other day but I can't get it to do that. I think I need to go back to get some of the sides cut off. What do you think? Cast your vote to the right. THANKS!

Bringin' Sexy Back!

Why in frustration from dealing with my hair, did I pull out the crimping iron last night (Sunday). Yes, I said crimping iron. I know many of you haven't seen one of those since the early 1990s. Now, before you call the fashion police keep in mind that my crimping iron (I know many of you are shaking your heads in amazement and asking "who the hell still has a crimping iron") does not make the ridged geometrical crimps that were all the craze in the 80's (see picture).
Rather my crimper creates a more wavy look. I would equate it more to the flapper look of the 40s or even the finger waves (yes, I wore them too back in the day) of the 90s. Unfortunately, neither of those looks are ones I really want to have goin' on. All that to say that I am having some "hair" remorse this morning. While, I am getting a lot of compliments on my hair, I can't help but to feel like a throw back. You know, one of those older women (at 37, that would be me now) that decide that the look (could be clothes or hairstyles) they carried best was 20 years prior. Fortunately, I realize (after the fact anyways) that this look is not working for me. It's a good thing I'm going to get my hair done this week.

Just wanted to share...here's my hair.
Oh and I forgot to mention that yesterday I decided to (I'm beginning to see a pattern-I swear I didn't smoke any crack yesterday) give my self a french manicure on my toes. The catch though is that I decided to use turquoise instead of white. HATE IT! Now I gotta re-do my toes!

Home Town Talent

Friday Night Videos

Even though Dance Fever with Deney Tarrio came on Saturday evenings, I couldn’t resist adding it for this weeks installment of Friday Night Videos and hurtling you back through time and plopping you down in your iron on t-shirt (add your favorite character), track shorts with the white piping and matching tube socks on your shag carpet in front of your console tv complete with 8 track player. So get up and dance like you got the fever.

What are the chances that I would go looking for a Dance Fever clip to share with you today and that they would be home town talent? Go figure. The blog gods must be feeling especially generous. I hope you enjoy Denise and John cut a rug as much as I did. You know they were practicing for months in the finished basement (complete with mirrored bar) of Denise’s split level that she shares with hubby Paul out there in Inver Grove Heights. Denise must be John’s hairdresser and one day while she was giving him a perm and highlights they came up with the idea to audition for Dance Fever (besides they were running out of talent shows to enter in the Twin Cities and wanted to branch out nationally). John was hoping that this appearance would catapult his “acting” career into the big time. Unfortunately, after losing to a couple from Detroit (the score was close but I think it was the distracting shower curtains they chose to wear as costumes that ultimately did them in) they returned home to their guaranteed fan base. John did a few shows at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater before giving up his dream of acting. I think I saw him working at the Menards in Fridley. Denise now teaches cosmetology at Scott Lewis.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

My hubby is 59! Happy Birthday!

Dual Lives

I know that most of you will feel me on this post! I like so many of my peers are living a double life. Before you call the authorities in hopes of obtaining a large reward for my capture, let me explain. At work and out in the "world" we speak (or try to speak - GW) in correct English and carry ourselves in a dignified and acceptable manner. Our diction matches those around us. You won't find any "ebonic" like phrases or words slipping out. We have mastered the language and can keep up with the best of ‘em. Now the duality comes into play when we get around each other. We become much more relaxed in our speech and let the curses and “ain’t”s flow freely. This is not to say that all of us speak in ebonics or act straight “ignant” as soon as we walk through our front doors and slip off our shoes, but there is a definite difference in language and behavior.

All that to say, here is a prime example of the duality. (I forgot to mention that anger or some other strong emotion can also cause us to switch) Notice how ol’ boy changes when he swallows the bug. (I can’t stop laughing!!!)

"Give me some more food please"

HELLO! Just had a taste of one of the new hot sandwiches from Dominos Pizza. I think it was the Chicken Bacon Ranch. Umm, I have a new fav sandwich. And it's only like $4.99!! Good and cheap, who could ask for anything more? I will definitely, be making a trip up to Dominos in the next week of so! YUMMY!

In honor of my new fav sandwich and to my girl, Windy celebrating Sonic's arrival in Minnesota (keep the trips to Sonic minimal so you don't end up like a Fat Boy!), the Friday Night Video for today is The Fat Boys "All You Can Eat"!

Takes me back!! Remember the Sabarro downtown?

Happy 50th!

HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY PRINCE

Our hometown boy turns 50 tomorrow! (Thanks for the reminder Mira) So in honor of his birthday, here is his 1985 video for "When Doves Cry". This was one of my fav's from Purple Rain. I HAD that step down at the end of the video. "That's my song"!

What's Up?

Mommy Juice Box
Rarely do I write about a product before I try it but I just had to share this NEW product I saw in a magazine the other day. And you better believe I will be trying it this weekend. I especially wanted to share it with all my alcohol dependant (doesn’t that sound better then alcoholic?) friends. Don’t you just love the name DAILYS. Not sure if it’s implying that you can drink it daily, but that works for me. Whatever floats your boat. It comes conveniently packaged in the cardboard boxes that were a mainstay in my fridge when I was growing up. We always had a “box” of wine in the fridge. But that’s another story, one I only share with my therapist. Just kidding (about the therapist, not the boxes of wine in the fridge.) So, check it out. I have to go home tonight and make room in the fridge for “mommy’s good juice box”.

Cocktails Bag-in-Box - Think wine box…but much more festive. They fit in the fridge and have a simple tap that releases the contents at the push of a button...while also keeping your cocktail flavor fresh.
Margarita
Cosmospolitan
Appletini
Mojito
Mangotini
Bloody Mary
Pomegranate Margarita

FOOD
I tried another Pioneer Woman recipe and once again I have a new fav.
Last night I made the Crash Hot Potatoes. They were super easy and
SSSOOO good!!! The only modification I made was to use several dried
spices, such as Mrs. Dash Garlic and Herb, Hot Salt, Pepper and a little
salt. I then melted about a tablespoon of butter and poured that over
the top once they were nice and brown and crsipy!!!! Had it with steak
and green beans!YUMMY! Meat and potatoes...DROOL!

Concert The concert Friday was the bomb! Chrisette Michele was good, Raheem DeVaughn is the man and Solange, I'll let you figure that out. He didn't sing my song "Empty" but it was all good!! Marinade on that. (Shut it Windy!) Will post pics as soon as I have them.
